 What's With That Name?

Occasionally I get a puzzled look when I tell people that I have started a new business with the cheeky name of Frocks Rocks & Cocktails. 

• a "frock" is an old fashioned word for a dress,
• "rock" is a pre-bling colloquialism for an impressive diamond,
• and a  cocktail is any mixed alcoholic drink.

What We Do

Frocks Rocks & Cocktails events showcase elegant fashions, sparkling jewels and cool cocktails! Far from superficial, a portion of the proceeds from Frocks Rocks & Cocktails soirees will benefit a select group of non-profit agencies that serve disadvantaged young women.

Founded by self-proclaimed "dressaholic" Wanda Mann, Frocks Rocks & Cocktails offers a smart and fresh perspective on fashion, jewelry, beauty and entertaining.

Frocks Rocks & Cocktails creates upscale networking opportunities for sophisticated girly-girls who know a strand of pearls and a Classic Martini perfectly accessorize a little black dress!

Ms. Kortchmar designs under her label,"Midnight Prairie," an eye-catching array of ultra feminine dresses, romantic fitted blouses, tailored daywear, summer-weight long evening jackets, corset inspired halter tops, and super chic high-waist pants.

Ms. Kortchmar's journey as an artist has taken her from a youth in South Dakota to a thriving career as a singer-songwriter in LA. Along the way she had the chance to sing backup with Bruce Springsteen and wife Patti Scialfa and serve as a bridesmaid for friend and former roommate Demi Moore. Her path to design was influenced by the generous gift of vintage dresses from iconic singer Joni Mitchell in the 90's.
